  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 6 potatoes, scrubbed and cubed

  • place the bacon in a large, deep skillet, and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. drain the bacon slices on a paper towel-lined plate, crumble, and set aside.

  • 1 1/4 cups water

  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 (2 pound) package frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
  • 2 cups bread crumbs

  • 2 cups cooked, chopped ham
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups parmesan cheese flavored bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
