Mushroom Stew

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 lb fresh mushrooms
  • 4 large yellow onions
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • flour
  • salt & pepper

Recipe

  • 1 in a large pot, cook sliced mushrooms with 1/2 stick of butter over medium heat.
  • 2 drain the water that cooks out of the mushrooms until they give no more. (reserve this stock for soup.)
  • 3 saute chopped onions in small amount of oil until brown.
  • 4 in a cast-iron skillet or wok, melt 1 stick of butter over low heat.
  • 5 add sifted flour until thick, stirring constantly.
  • 6 add sour cream and stir until mixture is warm.
  • 7 add more flour if necessary to thicken.
  • 8 combine all ingredients and stir well.
  • 9 salt and pepper to taste.
  • 10 serve over fresh mashed potatoes.
