Mushroom Stew

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 lb fresh mushrooms
  • 4 large yellow onions
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • oil

Recipe

  • 1 in large pot, cook sliced mushrooms with the 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. drain the water that cooks out of the mushrooms until they give no more (save the mushroom stock for the soup).
  • 2 sauté the chopped onions in small amount of oil until browned.
  • 3 in heavy skillet, melt 1/2 cup butter over low heat. add the sifted flour, stirring constantly until thick.
  • 4 add the sour cream and stir until the mixture is warm. you may add more flour if necessary to thicken. combine all the ingredients and stir well.
  • 5 salt and pepper to taste.
  • 6 serve over fresh mashed potatoes.
