Lentil Soup

Ingredients
- Servings: 6
- 2 smoked ham hocks
- 2 large onions
- 1 lb lentils, washed (non processed)
- 1 ounce paprika
- salt and pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon thyme
- water
- 1 carrot, cut into pieces
- 1 lb polish sausage, cut into pieces
Recipe
- 1 place ham hocks in large kettle and heat gently to render some fat.
- 2 add onions and cook until golden brown.
- 3 add lentils and carrot.
- 4 stir.
- 5 add enough water to cover.
- 6 add paprika,salt and pepper.
- 7 bring to a boil,stir and cover.
- 8 turn off the heat and let stand for an hour or more.
- 9 reheat and stir.
- 10 again add water to cover and cook gently until lentils begin to disintergrate.
- 11 cook sausage in the soup and add thyme.
- 12 serve hot.
