Nayne's Cornbread Stuffing

Ingredients

  • Servings: 14
  • 4 (4 ounce) packages cornbread mix
  • 2 (10 ounce) boxes herb-seasoned stuffing cubes (mrs cubison's)
  • 1 (16 ounce) bag herb stuffing mix
  • 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 2 cups celery
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 1 cup onion
  • 1 bunch green onion
  • 2 bulbs of garlic
  • 1/4 cup parsley
  • 1 (10 1/2 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 (10 1/2 ounce) can cream of celery soup
  • 4 (14 ounce) cans chicken broth (7 cups)

Recipe

  • 1 make cornbread and crumble in very large bowl. add all stuffing mix and cubes, poultry seasoning. fry six slices bacon; drain (reserve drippings) crumble bacon and add to bread bowl. chop celery, bell pepper, onions and garlic and fry in bacon drippings till tender crisp; add to bowl. mix soups and 2 cans of broth in a small bowl until blended; stir into bread mix. continue to add broth until desired consistency is achieved.
  • 2 spoon into large turkey roaster or lasagna pan, cover with foil and bake at 350 deg. for 30 minutes; remove foil and bake 20 minutes more or until brown on top.
