Golden Onion Bake

Ingredients
- Servings: 8
- 1/2 cup butter
- 6 medium onions, sliced (or more if you like)
- 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of chicken soup (i use healthy request)
- 1 cup milk
- salt
- pepper, to taste
- 3/4 lb gruyere cheese or 3/4 lb swiss cheese, cut up
- french bread, sliced into about 1 inch pieces
- melted butter
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350-degrees.
- 2 butter casserole dish (shallow one).
- 3 melt butter in large skillet and add onions.
- 4 cook until tender and translucent.
- 5 stir often.
- 6 transfer onions to prepared dish.
- 7 combine milk, soup, salt and pepper in a bowl.
- 8 pour over onions.
- 9 sprinkle cut cheese over top.
- 10 brown bread slices (one side only) in skillet.
- 11 add butter as needed.
- 12 placed on top of casserole with browned side up.
- 13 bake until bread browns even more.
- 14 about 30 minutes.
- 15 serve hot.
