Old Fashioned Cream Of Tomato Soup

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 (16 ounce) can tomatoes
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon onion, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Recipe

  • 1 in a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  • 2 add flour and salt, blending well.
  • 3 slowly add milk, stirring constantly.
  • 4 cook until mixture boils and thickens.
  • 5 set aside press tomatoes through a sieve or blend until smooth.
  • 6 in a soup pot, combine remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
